Yesterday I went to the closest dog-friendly beach I could find, Leo Carillo SB, north of Malibu. It took too long to get there and we could only spend a few minutes there because of the chill. We then found mediocre seafood on the way home (Malibu Seafood, off the PCH) and spent the evening in traffic. Got home, had a healthy glass (or two) of wine.
LA is a challenging city. For every win, there seems to be three losses.
I was looking for a pair of shoes the other day. Simple, canvas shoes, so I stopped at a place off of Santa Monica (the Little Armenia end) and walked inside a place I had driven past for days. The store didn’t have the shoes I was looking for; however, walking past assorted “fashion” shops and gray-market electronics stores put me closer to the city than I had ever been. It was a similar experience to walking in Manhattan. Sole to sidewalk, the senses are heightened. But this city’s fabric is spread so taut across the valleys that interaction at this level between differing cultures seems nearly impossible.
I’ll take suggestions, of course.
